Android Market gets supply of about 100 thousand applications in the last four months. In August 2011 the applications in the Android Market is estimated at 300 thousand applications.
Distimo also notes that nearly two-thirds of the applications in the Android Market are free. Interestingly the growth of these free applications much faster than the paid applications.
This phenomenon is called Distimo has spawned what is known as the Freemium business model. That is a business model where one application be declared free. But to get the other features of the free application before the user must pay a certain amount. This model has been adopted by many developers.
Research conducted Distimo also noted that the average Android Market developer supplying 4.1 application. Compared with the year 2010 was a decline, because this year the average application developer supplying 5 applications.
The number of applications in the Android Market seems to overshadow Appple. Through the iTunes App Store, Apple has about 500 thousand applications. While Microsoft's Windows Phone Marketplace has about 50,000 applications.
